Knotwilgen or pollard willows are part of Pajottenland nature. A pollard willow is a willow that is sawn off a few years after being planted, at a height of approximately 1.5 – 2 m. After that, the tree is cut every 3-6 years by removing the newly sprouted branches. The thickening at the base of the foothills forms the bun from which the pollard willow gets its name. You will find many pollard willow on your path.
We recommend following walk that starts at about 13 km from Trionfo.
Let yourself be guided by rows of pollard willows and go straight through the Hertegembos.
Pass chapels and farms and enjoy the beautiful views of the Pajottenland.
Cross the railway past the watermill.
Starting point: Cultuurcentrum De Ploter, Kerkstraat 4, 1742 Sint-Katherina-Lombeek
